Eye Of Providence – Powerful, Secret Symbol With Deep Meaning
Ellen Lloyd - AncientPages.com - The Eye of Providence, also known as the All Seeing Eye is a powerful symbol that has been used for hundreds of years, if not longer. Some scholars trace it's history to ancient Egypt and the Eye of Horus, but it should not be confused with the Eye of Ra. The All Seeing Eye has been an important Christian symbol that can often be found on stained glass windows of churches.

Eye Of Providence, Freemasons, Illuminati And The Great Seal
In the United States, the Eye Of Providence is often associated with conspiracies, the Freemasons, Illuminati and the Vatican. In Freemasonry, God is known as the Architect of the Universe. The Freemasons started publicly using the symbol in 1797 and it's the All Seeing Eye is also a symbol of the secret society the Illuminati.

In 1782, the Eye of Providence was adopted as part of the symbolism on the reverse side of the Great Seal of the United States. Many started to believe this was proof of Masonic influence on the founding of the American government. Eye of Providence on the dollar bill was simply a signal that the U.S. government had been taken over by evil forces.
However, according to Bill Ellis, a professor emeritus of American Studies at Penn State, the pyramid and eye didn’t show up on the dollar bill until 1935. They started out as part of our Great Seal. FDR added them to the dollar.
The pyramid was seen as the kind of human structure that lasted out the ages and the founding fathers wanted the country to last as long as the pyramids.

The All Seeing Eye shows an eye often surrounded by rays of light or a glory and usually enclosed by a triangle. The triangle is a symbol of Christian trinity. Bursts of light and clouds are commonly used to depict holiness, divinity, and God. The Eye is generally interpreted as the eye of God watching over humanity.
The Eye – Ancient, Sacred Symbol Recognized World-Wide
The Eye is a sacred, very important ancient symbol used by people for thousands of years. To the Sumerians, the eye represented “the lord of the sacred eye,” and it was a symbol of wisdom, omniscience, and magnanimity.

Native Americans believe that “the eye of the heart sees everything”, and as such it is the eye of the Great Spirit, which is omniscient. In Hinduism, the third eye of Shiva is the pearl in the center of the forehead and represents spiritual awareness, celestial wisdom. The eye of Varuna is the Sun. As previously mentioned on Ancient Pages, the eye is also part of the ancient Hamsa symbol.
Depicted as an eye embedded in the palm of an open hand, the Hamsa symbol has had numerous other names throughout the ages. Some scholars think the symbol is of Pagan origin and was later adopted by other religions. Hamsa is often carried as an amulet to invoke the hand of God, or to counteract the Evil Eye. Tracing the roots of this ancient symbol is not easy because Jewish, Christian and Muslim scholars cannot agree on the interpretation of Hamsa.
